Nice place to visit for an evening with sea breeze and gentle stroll. Best advice is go to Marigolds for takeaway fish and chips which are the best and eat them on the sea front watching the boats and water activities.
Lovely walk to Hilbre Island. Highly recommended but check tide times!
Enjoyed a bracing walk on this beautiful and accessible beach. At low tide, it's a vast, wide stretch of sand, ideal for walks and sandcastles. It's also a great place to bring a dog (they're allowed on the beach all year round). Did not have time to walk out to Hilbre Island (it takes about an hour to reach it), but there were great views across the Dee Estuary towards all three islands and the distant hills of North Wales. According to a nearby sign, you can take a safe route across the sands, but you must check tide times before you set off and allow yourself plenty of time. There are toilets close by, and a pay and display car park right next to the beach, or you can park for free on the prom. There's also an ice-cream shop and a café, but I recommend nipping into Morrisons to buy a sandwich or a snack for a picnic lunch.
Great little seaside town with loads to offer. Great places to eat and loads of water sports. You can walk to the nearby islands when the tide is out or walk round to Holylake.
Lovely beach. You have the option of taking the coastal path, or a walk out to the nearby island. Plenty of water sports taking place too. Public toilets are available (free of charge when we visited).
