The castle is very accessible, all the lower levels are dog friendly as well! Toilets in the castle. Gift shop. The castle is facing the town centre where you can cross over to find a cafe for a drink and a bite to eat. The walk on the grounds around the castle is accessible, a little uphill in sections but not overly strenuous. Staff were helpful and friendly. Seating options in the castle and grounds. There's a lot of Canadian geese in the surrounding grounds, our dog just ambles past them even when they're hissing at us but I just thought it maybe worth mentioning for those who have dogs that are more reactive.

Beautiful castle. My two little ones loved seeing the two dragons and kept wanting to revisit the dragons. They also tell the story of the white and red dragon which was great for the littles too. We loved exploring the castle. There is a lot of stairs but lots of activities for the little ones on the different levels. Unfortunately if you bring your dog you can't explore much of the castle on the upper floors as they are not allowed up the stairs. (I'm guessing due to health and safety and the steepness of the steps) Me and my husband took it in turns to explore the upper levels of the castle while the other stayed with our dog.

Nice castle with stunning views. I would expect to see more artifacts in the castle. The catapults were the most impressive exhibits. There is a paid car park opposite the castle. Entey is free for National Trust members only, paid for anyone else. Gift shop available as well. Staff very polite and friendly.

It was a perfect place to visit and an absolute must-see. The grounds around the castle are beautiful, and the castle itself is deceptive — we hadn’t realised just how big it was. The spoken tour was really interesting and explained the complete history of why it was built, who occupied it, and the purpose of each room. My three-year-old was determined to climb the steps in all the towers, and he loved running around the huge grounds, especially seeing the red and white dragons and hearing the story behind them. I must admit, I found it really interesting too, and I never knew where the red dragon on the Welsh flag came from, so I was quite impressed. The gift shop is great, and the staff are lovely, very friendly, and welcoming.

Caerphilly Castle is an incredible place to visit and one of the most impressive castles in Wales. The scale of it is huge, and the water defenses make it feel especially dramatic as soon as you arrive. It has a real medieval atmosphere, with massive gatehouses, leaning towers, and plenty of spots that make you stop and take photos. Walking around the grounds gives you a sense of the size of the site, and there are lovely views from different angles across the lakes and walls. It is a great place for history lovers or anyone who enjoys exploring somewhere with character. The site is well kept, spacious and very atmospheric. Definitely worth the trip if you are in South Wales.
