Brilliant place to spend a sunny afternoon. Don't be fooled into thinking the tower is all there is...have a good explore. The defensive ditch walk is beautiful and loops around the castle. Steep and uneven in parts but so worth it. Just be careful getting to the car park...I've been on smoother off road jeep safaris...its awful...I found sticking as close to the right on the way up as you could helped and going super slow on the way down...but my poor car!

Open and free to the public 24/7. There's a few heritage signs around the site. It's quite small so don't go thinking it's a big castle. Do visit the church beside the castle.

Mote and Bailey castle ruins. Large open space to roam or picnic. Lovely views across the valleys below, parking can be difficult, best to park in the village and walk up past St Nicholas Church. Information boards available. The mote is walkable but can be muddy.

A childhood haunt that was lovely to return to. A lovely open space to walk, explore or just have a picnic. The gatehouse tower ruins and the ancient church always delight.
