Orford Castle is one of my all-time favourite castles. I've been visiting for years and always make a point of stopping whenever I'm in the area. The castle is surprisingly well preserved, with the impressive keep still standing and offering a fascinating glimpse into its past. It was built by the Crown to strengthen royal authority in the region and counter the influence of the powerful Bigod family at nearby Framlingham Castle. The castle also has some fascinating local folklore, including the legend of the Wild Man of Orford, who was supposedly captured from the sea. Whether you visit for the history, the architecture, or the legends, Orford Castle is well worth a visit.

Great place to visit. It's on a hill. Lots of steps. If you climb the old stone steps to the roof top you have great view of surrounding areas.

Intact single keep, with extensive grounds with where outer walls were. Onsite carpark, castle keep is complete with a local museum on a floor with artifacts and local history. The views from the top are stunning.

Lovely little museum, definitely worth a visit! Lots of stairs and some dark corridors so be warned but lots to see and really interesting history to this little castle. Really well restored and a good amount of exhibits on display too.

A decent EH site and fascinating castle with a real history. The interactive guide was one of the better versions I've come across and not just a dull audio guide but proper visual aid that brought the history to life. Sure there are no facilities whatsoever but the village centre is close that has a number of options and public loos in the main car park. One of my favourite EH Castle visits I have to say
